I'm walking 30 miles in September

I’m walking 30 Miles in September and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.

An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

Dementia doesn’t just affect individuals…

Wednesday 6th Aug

…it affects whole families and communities. In our community, many families care for loved ones with dementia at home, often without enough support or understanding of what the condition involves. Cultural stigma can sometimes make it harder to talk about dementia or seek help early, which means families often struggle in silence.

By raising awareness and supporting charities like Dementia UK, we can break that silence, help families feel less alone, and make sure they have access to specialist support. Every conversation we start and every pound we raise helps bring dementia out of the shadows and into the heart of our community’s care.

Why I’m Walking 30 Miles in September for Dementia UK

Wednesday 6th Aug

Hello friends, I’m Shapna, and this September I’ll be walking 30 miles to support Dementia UK, the UK’s specialist dementia nurse charity whose Admiral Nurses provide vital support to families facing dementia.

Nothing brings home the urgency of this cause more than seeing loved ones affected by dementia. Whether through personal experience or within our broader community, I’ve seen how dementia can challenge families, emotionally, practically, and financially. That’s why I’m lacing up my walking shoes to help make a difference.

Admiral Nurses provide specialist, personalised support to families dealing with dementia.

They offer telephone support, resources, and workshops for caregivers.

Fundraising directly supports their training and ability to reach more families.

What your support means to me…

When you donate, you’re not just giving money—you’re supporting real families struggling with dementia every day.

Seeing support from people I care about keeps me motivated when the miles get tough.

Sharing my post with others helps raise awareness and encourages more people to get involved.
