I'm walking 60 Miles in June for Dementia UK

This June, I'm walking 60 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

The Game Plan: How I'll Hit the Target (and Still Rest!)

Thursday 14th May
I've been mapping out my route to 60 miles, and the plan is officially set! I’ll be tackling 3 miles a day, 5 days a week, giving myself a couple of rest days to recover. Whether I’m fitting in a quick mile between work commitments or getting the steps in during weekend activities, every bit counts. I'll let you know how week one goes!

The First Step: Why I’m Taking on 60 Miles in June

Wednesday 13th May
Welcome to my fundraising page! I’ve officially signed up for Dementia UK’s "60 Miles in June" challenge, and I wanted my very first update to share a bit more about why I’m taking this on.

As many of you know, we recently went through the heartbreak of losing my Dad to dementia. Watching someone you love navigate this cruel disease is incredibly difficult, and saying our final goodbyes has left a void that is hard to put into words. Taking on this challenge is my way of channelling that grief into something positive and giving something meaningful back in his memory.

Every single mile I cover this June is dedicated to two very important groups of people. Firstly, to those who are currently living with dementia, and their families, to ensure they have the resources they need so that no one has to face it alone. Secondly, to the incredible professionals and specialist nurses who work tirelessly to provide practical solutions, compassionate care, and emotional support when it feels like your world is turning upside down.

Sixty miles over the course of a month is a brilliant challenge, and I’ll be lacing up my boots and fitting the miles in however I can—whether it's squeezing in a walk between work, getting out at the weekends, or just taking the long route home.

I’ll be using this blog to keep you all updated on my progress, the milestones I hit, and perhaps the inevitable aches and pains along the way!

Any support you can give—whether it’s a donation to the page, sharing this link with your friends and family, or simply leaving a few words of encouragement—will mean the absolute world to me. Every penny raised goes directly to Dementia UK to help fund their vital work.

Thank you for being here, and thank you for your support. Let's do this for Dad. 💙
