💙 Fans vs Dementia – Walking for my Great Auntie and Uncle

On 23rd May, I’ll be walking around 12 miles from Potters Bar to the Emirates Stadium, home of Arsenal FC, as part of the Fans vs Dementia challenge.

I’m doing this walk for my Great Auntie June, who is also my godmother. She is living with dementia and has always been a massive Arsenal fan. Football has brought her joy, comfort, and a sense of familiarity, which is why finishing at Emirates Stadium feels so meaningful.

This walk is also in memory of my Great Uncle, who sadly passed away from dementia a few years ago. Dementia has affected our family deeply, and this challenge is my way of honouring both those we’ve lost and those still living with the illness.

I’m raising money for Dementia UK, whose Admiral Nurses provide life-changing support to families affected by dementia — helping them feel understood, supported, and less alone during an incredibly difficult time.

I’ll be completing the walk in one day, the day before the final game of the season, which feels like the perfect moment to do something meaningful in their honour.
