I'm walking 30 Miles in September for Dementia UK

This September, I'm walking 30 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

In memory of my beautiful mum

Saturday 5th Sep
This September, I’m taking on a 30-mile walk — every single step in memory of my beautiful mum.

Dementia took her from us far too soon, and I watched the person I loved most slowly slip away in the most heartbreaking way. It changes everything — not just for the person living with it, but for everyone who loves them. You feel helpless, you feel lost, and you wish more than anything there was something you could do.

That’s why I’m doing this. I can’t bring her back — but I can walk for her. I can raise money and awareness so that one day, fewer families have to go through what we did. I’m walking in her memory, and I’m walking for everyone still walking this difficult path right now.
Thankyou  to everyone who supports me in this 💜

🤍 Walking in Memory of My Mum — 30 Miles for Dementia

Why I’m Walking…

This September, I’m taking on a 30-mile walk — not for fun, not for a challenge, but for the most important reason I can think of: in loving memory of my beautiful Mum.

Mum was everything to me — my safe place, my biggest cheerleader, the one person who always knew exactly what to say. She was kind, warm, and full of life. But over time, dementia slowly started to take her away from us. It didn’t just take her memory — it took pieces of her, day by day, until the person we knew was no longer there. It’s a cruel, heartbreaking condition that ripples through entire families, leaving you feeling lost and alone.

Mum passed away in January 2023. It’s been hard, so very hard — some days it still feels like she’s just in the next room, or that I can pick up the phone and hear her voice. But instead of letting the sadness weigh me down, I wanted to do something positive in her honour. Something that says: you didn’t leave us, and we won’t forget you — and we’ll help others going through the same pain.

What Your Donation Means…

Every penny I raise will go directly to dementia support — funding care, advice, research, and practical help for people living with dementia and their families. For the people who feel like they’re losing the person they love while they’re still right there — your kindness can give them hope, support, and someone to turn to.

 - £5 could pay for an hour of one-to-one support for someone living with dementia
- £10 could provide information and guidance to a family who’ve just received a diagnosis
- £25 could help fund specialist care and activities
- Any amount — no matter how small — brings us closer to a world where no one faces dementia alone

💛 Walking for Mum, Walking for Hope
I’m not a runner. I’m not an athlete. I’m just a daughter who misses her Mum every single day, and who wants to turn that love into something that helps others. Every step I take is one step closer to a cure, one step closer to better care, and one step closer to honouring the incredible woman who gave me life.
Please — if you can spare anything at all — big or small — every single penny truly makes a difference. Your support means the world to me, and it will mean the world to families who need it most.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
