Walk 50 Miles in January 2026

I'm walking 50 Miles (pushing now to 100 miles!) in January for Dementia UK

This January, I'm walking 50 Miles (pushing now to 100 miles!)and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

Completed The Challenge Today!

Tuesday 27th Jan

Today I completed the 100 Miles Challenge 🎉

Back in January, I set out to walk 50 miles (and then, slightly ambitiously, pushed it to 100!) to raise funds for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity. I honestly wasn’t sure at the start how tough it would be — physically and mentally — but here we are.

I’m incredibly proud to have reached the 100-mile mark, but more than that, I’m deeply grateful to everyone who sponsored, donated, shared, encouraged, or cheered me on along the way.

Thanks to your generosity, we are helping to ensure that no family faces dementia alone. Donations like yours make a real difference.

Thank you so much for believing in the challenge, in the cause, and in me.

Every mile was worth it. 💙👟

New Personal Challenge Set!

Wednesday 14th Jan
With 17 days left, the goal is clear: let’s push this all the way to 100 miles. Some days the miles feel easy, others take a bit more determination, but every walk counts. Early mornings, busy schedules, tired legs — none of it matters when you remember why you started. This challenge isn’t just about distance; it’s about consistency, commitment, and proving to yourself that you can keep going even when it would be easier to stop.

Reached 50 Miles!

52 miles achieved !

Tuesday 13th Jan

Today I reached my 50-mile walking target for Dementia UK, and I’m really proud of that achievement. January hasn’t always been easy, but every step has felt worthwhile.

I’ll be continuing to walk for the rest of the month to see how far I can go. Thank you to everyone who’s encouraged and supported me along the way.

Wrap up!

Friday 9th Jan

Wind and rain!

Friday 9th Jan

An awful day for walking today — cold, dark, and properly miserable. I wrapped up nice and warm, but even that didn’t make it particularly enjoyable.

On the upside, I did my bit as a responsible citizen and reported a large hole in the road. It’s apparently been there for at least two days now, and with no street lights in Higham it’s genuinely dangerous. I could easily see how someone could miss it and end up with a nasty fall — or even a trip to hospital.

Not the most uplifting walk, but hopefully reporting it helps prevent someone else getting hurt. Some days it’s less about the miles and more about looking out for each other.

Wrapped up today.
