I'm walking 30 miles in September
I’m walking 30 Miles in September and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.
An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.
Thank you!

30 Miles For My Dad
Monday 15th SepMy dad is still here.
He still holds my hand.
But every day, I watch a little more of him get taken by Lewy Body Dementia.
There is no gentle way to say it — this disease is cruel. It steals memories, it twists reality, and it breaks hearts in slow motion. As his daughter, I feel completely helpless. I can’t stop it. I can’t fix it. I can only sit beside him, love him fiercely, and hold on to the moments we still get.
That’s why I’m walking 30 miles for Dementia UK. Because I need to do something. Because families like mine need help. Because people need to understand what dementia really looks like – and how urgently support is needed.
My dad has always been my rock. The quiet strength in every storm. The voice of reason. The person I’ve always turned to, no matter what. He made me feel safe just by being there. And now, as we face this together, I want to show him — just how much he means to me.
Lewy Body Dementia doesn’t just affect memory — it brings vivid hallucinations, confusion, fear, and long, difficult nights. And it doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed. It affects the entire family. The pain of watching someone you love change before your eyes, knowing there's no way to stop it, is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
That’s where Dementia UK comes in. Their incredible Admiral Nurses support families like mine every single day — offering practical guidance, emotional support, and genuine care when it feels like no one else understands. They’re a lifeline. And right now, more people than ever need that lifeline.
So I’ll walk. 30 miles for my dad. For his strength. For his love. For every part of him that’s still here. And for every other family going through this heartbreak in silence.
Please, if you can, donate. Share. Talk about it. Help us raise awareness.
I’m walking as his little girl. And I always will be.
For my dad.
For all of us.
With love,
Sarah 💙
