Dementia UK

Monday 1st Sep

Dementia UK holds a very special place in my heart because I’ve seen first-hand the toll that dementia takes on families. It’s not just the person living with the condition who suffers, it affects everyone around them, in ways that are often invisible to the outside world.

Watching close family members battle dementia has been one of the most painful experiences of my life. The gradual changes, the confusion, and the loss of recognition are heartbreaking. But beyond that, it’s the daily struggles, the sleepless nights, the moments of fear, and the overwhelming responsibility placed on loved ones who suddenly become carers.

In those overwhelming moments, support and understanding mean everything. Dementia UK provides specialist dementia nurses, who not only help those living with dementia but also support their families through the challenges. Their work gives people guidance, compassion, and the reassurance that they are not alone on this difficult journey.

What you’re doing is truly incredible. Taking on this charity walk for dementia shows not just strength and determination, but deep compassion for others. Every step you take is a step toward awareness, support, and hope for those affected by dementia and their families. You’re not just walking miles—you’re walking with purpose, with heart, and with the power to make a real difference. Keep going, knowing that you inspire more people than you realize. We’re all behind you—cheering you on with pride and gratitude. 💜
