I'm walking 31 Miles in May for Dementia UK

This May, I'm walking 31 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

31 Miles in May: Walking for Netta and the Future of Dementia Care

Monday 27th Apr
This May, I am taking on a challenge that is close to my heart and my daily life. I will be walking 31 miles—one for every day of the month—to raise vital funds for Dementia UK.
For nearly 20 years, I have worked on the frontline with people living with dementia. I have seen the confusion, the loss, and the immense pressure placed on families. In Scotland alone, 90,000 people are currently living with this condition, and that number is growing every day.
But for me, this isn’t just about the work I do now; it’s about where I’m going. I am currently at university studying to become a nurse, with one clear goal in mind: to become an Admiral Nurse.
I’m doing this in memory of my great gran, Netta. She is my inspiration, and she is the reason I want to provide the specialist, life-changing support that Admiral Nurses offer to families in their darkest hours.
Dementia is now the leading cause of death in Scotland, yet so many families still feel they are navigating the journey alone. By walking these 31 miles, I hope to raise the funds needed to ensure more families have access to the expert clinical and emotional support they deserve.
Every step I take this month is for Netta, for the patients I’ve cared for over the last two decades, and for the families I hope to support in the future.
Thank you for your support, your donations, and for helping me honor Netta’s legacy.
