I'm walking 30 miles in September

I’m walking 30 Miles in September and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.

My dad John Robert Harding was a very hardworking man that always put the needs of his family first, he was kind and generous to a fault and would do anything for anyone. He was a very talented football player and the age of 14 was picked to play for Manchester City  Boys,  when he was able to travel the country playing for them, he was strong and fast and although he had dreams of playing for the first team an injury kept that just out of reach. He could have gone on to play for other league teams but it was Manchester City he wanted to play for so it was that or nothing. He carried on playing for work and pub teams and enjoyed running and playing golf.

Sadly at the age of 59 Dad was diagnosed with early onset frontal lobe dementia , at age 68 Dad lost his battle.

When dad was first diagnosed , my mum sought much needed advice, help and support with this proving to be invaluable. Knowing that the support for families is out there is a life line. It is incredibly difficult to come to terms with and understanding what is happening so important.

We are heartbroken as a family but also comforted that Dad is now at peace, we will always remember the man he was and his spirit will live on with us forever.

An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

I am doing this in memory of my dad,he developed early onset frontal lobe dementia at the age of 59.

Dad fought hard and remained stromg and stoic until the end.

I am hoping to raise awareness and vital funds in memory of dad with this being the first of many activities.

I will update you on my walking efforts very soon so stay posted.

With love Ros xx
