I'm walking 31 Miles in May for Dementia UK

This May, I'm walking 31 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

My brother, sister in law and I cared for my late Pappa, from 2019 when he experienced cognitive impairment following a bleed to his brain, and a stroke the year after.  We experienced living grief as parts of him started to decline, and eventually his overall health. The Dementia spectrum is very cruel, and the support of Dementia UK is invaluable to those with it or their loved ones. Please help if you can.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

Hope

Thursday 9th Apr
Approximately 1 year and 1 hour ago, I kissed my Dad goodnight and goodbye for the last time. He slipped away minutes later after we left his bedside. We could not believe it.  Our dearest Pappa fought long hard and hard with cognitive impairment following a bleed in his brain in late 2019, and a stroke in 2020. He was never the same after that.

A year on, I did not know how I would get through today, but with tears, support and remembrance  I did. I want to do this challenge so that loved ones and carers do not feel alone, when their loved one experiences cognitive decline or indeed passes. I hope someone reads this and is moved to help. Thank you 🙏🏽
