I'm walking in October to raise awareness and a little money
I’m raising money for Dementia UK and awareness of this cruel condition.
My mother-in-law — Sue — once the life and soul of every party, central to our family — has been cruelly affected by dementia. Watching someone so vibrant and full of life slowly fade has been heartbreaking.
It’s a stark reminder of how devastating this condition is, not just for those diagnosed, but for everyone who loves them.
My goal is modest, to raise awareness and a little money to support the good work Dementia UK does.
If you’re able to donate, share, or simply read and reflect — thank you.

My Updates
Just a quick update from me!
Thursday 13th Nov
Hello Everyone,
Just a quick update from me!
First of all, a big thank you to everyone who supported and sponsored me. Your generosity means a lot, and as many of you said, it’s for a great cause—fighting a horrible condition. My original goal was £250, and thanks to you, I raised just over £500! 😊
Dementia UK set an initial distance target of 62 miles, but as the month went on, I found myself really enjoying the walks. It became a great way to think, clear my head, and get some fresh air. So, I started adding a little extra each day. By the end of October, I had walked 194.1 miles!
I enjoyed it so much that I’ve decided to keep going. Inspired by two cultural icons—Forrest Gump (“…I just kept on going…”) and The Proclaimers—I’m now aiming to walk 500 miles by Christmas to match the £500 donated by you.
I’ll share another update then to let you know how I get on.
Thanks again for all your support! 😊

Thank you ❤️. I think, if she could, Mum would probably be telling you to pull your finger out and walk a bit further (possibly combined with a trip to the pub afterwards). Thank you, on behalf of everyone who loves Mum (and you). xxxx
