I’m walking 62 Miles in October and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.

An £10 donation can cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

My name is Rebecca, and my mother’s name is Joyce.

Eleven years ago, my mother was diagnosed with dementia. At first, it was little things she would forget what day of the week it was. But over time, her memory began to fade more deeply. She would leave the stove on, forget what she had gone to the shop for, and slowly, the everyday tasks that once came so easily to her became overwhelming.
Living with this illness has been heartbreaking. I’ve watched my strong, independent mother gradually become someone who now relies on others for her daily needs. Dementia has taken so much from her, but not everything. While her short-term memory slips away, she still holds tightly to the precious moments of her childhood and early adulthood. Those memories remain a comfort, a reminder of who she is beyond this illness.
