I’m walking 30 Miles in September and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.

An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Our dementia journey

September is world Alzheimer’s month and in support of this my brother, sister and I have signed up to walk 30 miles to help families facing dementia. 

Our mum was diagnosed with mixed dementia 3 years ago and her illness has progressed steadily since then. Following a recent fall, we realised that it was unsafe for mum to continue living at home. We eventually made the difficult decision for mum to go into specialist residential care.

Mum moved into her new home at The Willows Dementia hub in Rochdale earlier this month. It’s a great place and we’re hopeful this is the best thing for her.

It’s incredibly tough to see this cruel disease take hold of your loved one and the last few weeks have been particularly difficult for our family. We’re hoping to play a small part in raising awareness and funds to help other families facing into it. If you could please donate as little or as much as you can, we’d be very grateful.
