I'm jogging one mile a day for Dementia UK

This April, I’m jogging one mile each day and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I’m taking on this challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, in honor of my mum, who is currently battling Alzheimer’s.

Right now, my family and I are living through the incredibly difficult transition of moving mum into care. It’s by far the hardest thing we’ve ever faced. Throughout this transition, the support of Admiral Nurses has been something I can only describe as a lifeline. They become your guidance, support, and solace, helping you navigate the overwhelming emotions and challenges that come with dementia. Because of the support they have given my family, I want to ensure this network is available to anyone who needs it.

Your donation, big or small, makes a real difference. Just £8 can cover the telephone costs for two families seeking support through Dementia UK’s free Helpline. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family like us in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distress.
