I'm walking 62 Miles in October

I’m walking 62 Miles in October and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.

For those who know me, I have been active in caring and supporting people living with dementia for many years

An £10 donation can cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

Sunday 12th Oct
So another Sunday  and just over a third of the way through the month
I am combining this effort for an amazing charity with getting back into running - so have now completed two weeks of the Introduction to Running with Runna App - so that’s good

I hope to hit the forty miles this week - and a personal thanks to all who have donated so far - Thank You

So, second week then

Wednesday 8th Oct
It’s Wednesday  8th October and apparently I have managed 23 miles in total so far ….  I suspect that the app has got the count wrong as I think I have hit 16 miles but…..

Am enjoying Runna - better for me this time round than c25k!

Another few miles do e

Sunday 5th Oct
Three miles on Saturday and on Sunday. - so up to 13 miles for the month, fifty to go :)

I am also using Runna to get back to running - it’s better for me than C25K  this time - it also connects to my dreadmill so….

Tenth of the way

Friday 3rd Oct
Well, it’s day three and I have just got in from a wet walk !
But, six miles banked.
Tomorrow I will continue on the dreadmill - will be another couple of miles - next week those runs will ramp up in distance I think

Thanks to all who have donated - I also have a few quid on the chart at work :)

Damn flu

Friday 26th Sep
Having started to get on track and run, I have gone down with the lurgy… so not getting to run / walk  much this week

I will be back!

Reasons why

Wednesday 3rd Sep
There’s an awful lot of people who live with, and are affected by Dementia. When i first qualified as a registered nurse - yes, it was last century, my first staff nurse role was on an acute Elderly Mentally Infirm unit.
Since then, I have spent probably the last 20 plus years directly involved with dementia in one way or another.
I manage a great care service, Briar House in Kings Lynn where we support some of our residents who live with dementia - and this is a simple way to give something to all those who live with Dementia.

I have been unfit for a couple of years now - i stopped in 2022 as - being honest, I ached! I do want to get back to being fitter, but not to the previous level…. As i couldn’t work out which i hated most out of swimming, cycling and running, I did all three in triathlons - getting up to completing a couple of Half Iron man triathlons (a mere 1.2 mile swim, a simple 56 mile cycle and a short 13.1 mile jog….) I also did the London Marathon a couple of times for charities - lord i had no life!

This challenge is something that will be fun to do - it’s only 2 miles per day so….

Eyes down, look in!

I used to be quite fit…..
