Jog 1 Mile a Day in April

Jog 1 Mile a Day in April

I will be jogging a mile a day in memory of my Dad.

This April, I'm jogging one mile each day and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. Just £8 can cover the telephone costs for two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

My Updates

30 miles completed

Friday 2nd May
I have jogged various routes in my village, on the beach and a bit of trail running through the fields.
There were times I struggled especially after a long day at work but was actually very therapeutic once I was out.
I have raised more money et than expected so really proud of may achievement.
Well done to everyone who also ran.  😀😀

Final Day

Wednesday 30th Apr
This would have been my Dad’s Birthday.  I ran to the bridge and back where he used to go to watch the train with our dog.  Thank you to all the people who sponsored me. 😀

Half way

Tuesday 15th Apr
I am really pleased with my progress, I am now consistently running a mile without walking to catch my breath.  My next challenge is to up the pace.
Struggling mentally as it is bringing back all the sad memories of my Dad with dementia but makes me more determined to do well and raise as much money as possible.

Fastest day so far.

Tuesday 8th Apr

Nearly a week already

Sunday 6th Apr
I signed up to do this challenge as I watched my Dad struggle with dementia and how it affected the whole family.
My Mum was amazing a looked after him 24 hrs a day with support from family only.
If I can raise some money to give someone some respite it is all worth it.
I don’t like jogging  I don’t think I will enjoy it any more when I have finished but it will all be worth it.
People have sponsored me so much already it make it all worth while.
