I'm walking 30 Miles in September for Dementia UK
This September, I'm walking 30 miles and raising funds for Dementia UK.
For some people, 30 miles might not sound like much. But I wanted to choose a challenge that felt meaningful and realistic for me. The truth is, I don't move nearly as much as I should, so this will definitely push me out of my comfort zone!
So why this challenge, and why now?
Through my work in the community, I regularly meet people living with dementia and those who support and care for them. I've had many important conversations about the realities, challenges, and emotions that dementia can bring. Those conversations have stayed with me.
As I began exploring whether there was more I could do through the churches I work with, one fact stood out:
Dementia is now the UK's leading cause of death, ahead of heart disease and any single type of cancer.
Dementia affects millions of lives, yet many people still face the journey feeling isolated and without the support they need.
While I'm continuing to explore ways to better support people affected by dementia in my local community, walking 30 miles in September is something I can do right now. It's a way of staying mindful of those conversations, raising awareness, and supporting the incredible work of Dementia UK.
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference.
£33 could fund a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse for an hour, providing practical advice and emotional support to a family affected by dementia.
Thank you for reading, for sharing, and for supporting this cause. Your kindness and generosity are genuinely appreciated.
Thank you.
