I've committed to walking 30 miles in September
My mum lived with dementia, and we cared for and supported her through it until she passed away last October. I know firsthand how cruel this disease is — not just for the person living with it, but also for the family slowly witnessing someone they love fade away. It’s heartbreaking, and support can be hard to find from medical or social services professionals, leaving families feeling exhausted and overwhelmed.
That’s why I’m walking at least 30 miles this September (whilst the challenge is 30, I'm aiming for 50 miles) - to raise vital funds for families affected by dementia.
Your donation could make a real difference. £8 could cover helpline costs for two families seeking advice and comfort from Dementia UK’s free support line. £33 could fund an hour with a specialist Admiral Nurse — giving a family both emotional support and practical solutions when they need it most.
Any amount you can give would mean so much — to me, and to the many families still navigating this journey.
