I'm walking 30 miles in September

I’m walking 30 Miles in September and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.

An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

My Updates

30 miles achieved! But pushing 0n for more!

Tuesday 9th Sep

Day 6

Monday 8th Sep
A relatively quick walk! It’s a busy day

Day 7

Monday 8th Sep
A bigger walk! I really pushed myself here. A horrible stretch along a busy main road, but I’d wanted to go see the abandoned house in the woods!

Day 5 dementia Walk

Monday 8th Sep
The Ashdown Forest.

Day 4- Turns Out My Waterproofs Just Aren’t Very!……

Thursday 4th Sep
So I still cracked out 3 miles, because once you’re wet you can’t get any wetter, right?
Turns out I was wrong, because my waterproofs just absorbed more rain.
I feel maybe I should be supplied with waterproofs for testing by some of the outdoor brands!
Still, rain did not stop play! I still enjoyed the walk, but relished  a bath, dry clothes and 2 mugs of coffee when I returned home. The sky then mocked me with sunshine the moment I closed the front door!! 😂

A wet and windy day 3 walk

Wednesday 3rd Sep
Day 3 - 3 more miles for Dementia UK and the 30 miles in September walk.

Today I took a long wooded walk. The last time I did this route was with my sister,  Rachel Blakiston who had come over from Australia! We did this route together twice, and the last time was the day we drove her back to the airport. It was a reflective walk that day.
Doing it today, I did it with her in mind in particular, (it’s stressful for her not living closer to our parents) but also for us all fighting the impact of this crappy disease on the people we love.
Less animals today, but I did find a family of moorhens, some sheep and an extremely large leaf!

Thank you to those who have so kindly donated! I’ve so far raised £250 which was my goal. But if I can gather any more for the incredible and much needed cause, that would be fantastic! Thank you so so much.

Day 2 - Ponies, pheasants, sheep and buzzards….

Tuesday 2nd Sep
Got up after checking the weather app and decided I’d best get out quick!
A walk to Mount Caburn sounded perfect. I could go see the Exmoor ponies and wish the sheep a good morning!
I planned on taking a slightly longer route home, however the rain was sweeping in across the downs, and I quickly changed track and took the slightly shorter route back to the car.
Puddles that I had to dodge everywhere, but it was lovely!
So pleased I did the 3 miles this morning. It’s now time for at least one cup of coffee!

First walk done!

Monday 1st Sep
Dodged the showers and walked this morning!
Note to self; don’t be lazy about putting on my walking boots. Wellies are not comfortable for a brisk rugged walk!
