Walk 50 Miles in January 2026

I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK

This January, I'm walking 50 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Dementia is a condition which has personally touched my close family and many others in my circle of friends. It's one of the hardest to negotiate as the experience is different for everyone, sudden changes are often difficult to manage and support can make all the difference to all involved.

Walking and exercise in general I find hard especially in the cold so this is going to be a tough challenge for me but one I hope will not only do good for the charity but burn off some of that Xmas excess!

Thank you for reading and your support!

My Updates

It's over!

Sunday 1st Feb
I finished on a grand total of 96 miles. I'd have loved to have hit 100 but it was not to be. Thank you everyone for your support and encouragement.

Nearly there

Tuesday 27th Jan
Been a while since I posted an update and we are nearly at the end of the month. With your support I have currently covered 141.74Km which equates to around 88 miles. It's a lot more than I hoped for and given I've struggled with problems with my foot, I'm delighted to have achieved the target and raised significant money for the charity.
I'll keep going as best I can next few days. Thank you all for your motivation and generosity.

10 days in

Saturday 10th Jan
A week back at work, some pretty poor weather and struggling with Plantar Fasciitis but it hasn't stopped me adding a few miles. 26.84km added by the end of today which takes me to about 33miles when added to my previous total.

Day 4 and total so far

Sunday 4th Jan
Onto day 4. Not feeling the greatest today but got out in the fresh air to do another walk of about 5 and a half miles.
Currently on a total of around 16 miles.
Going to get a bit harder now I'm back at work from tomorrow and it will be walks in the dark and cold at night.

Thank you to all my supporters

Sunday 28th Dec
I've smashed my initial fundraising target so I've set a new one. A big thank you to everyone who has donated. It's huge motivation to get out in the dark and cold for this cause throughout January. I'll be posting my progress regularly.
