Help me reach my goal of £500

I'm taking on Fans vs Dementia

Hi everyone!

On the 26th April 2026 I will be taking part in my own version of the Fans vs Dementia fundraising event, where I will be walking from my home in Verwood all the way to the Bournemouth Vitality Football Stadium and walking back home again. This is a total of 24 miles and will take me roughly 9 hours to complete to raise money and awareness for Dementia UK.

I actually have 3 grandparents currently living with differing forms of dementia. 

In September 2022 my Gran suffered a stroke which then led to her developing Mixed Dementia, consisting of Alzhiemers and Vascular dementia. At the start of Gran's dementia journey she was living independently in her own home, until it got to the point she needed extra support from daily carers and ourselves. Having been a very independent lady she is now dependent on full time care. 

Dementia has become a huge part if my life over the last few years, as a carer myself wanting to specialise in dementia. Working very closely with individuals on a day-to-day basis with dementia, I have come to realise dementia brings many different challenges for each one of them and their families. 

Dementia comes in over 100 different forms and during the course of 90 minutes, the length of time of an official football match, 30 people will be developing a form of Dementia. 

So any donations would be hugely appreciated and because of you, more people facing dementia will be able to get the tailored support of a specialist dementia nurse. Thank you!!
