March Dog Walking Challenge

I'm walking 62K with my dog for Dementia UK

This March Kristelle, Frankie and I are walking 62K for dementia UK. We are doing this to honor the memory of my grandad, Joe, who fought a long and difficult battle with dementia. His strength, kindness, and unwavering spirit touched all who knew him. While we miss him deeply, we’re committed to carrying forward his legacy by raising funds to support dementia research and improve the lives of those affected by this heartbreaking illness.

This disease is unwavering in its cruelty and we witnessed first hand the impact it had on my grandad.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. Just £8 can cover the telephone costs for two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

My grandad Joe

Friday 28th Feb

There are some people whose presence makes a place come alive, and then there are those who become the heart and soul of that place. My grandad Joe was one of those rare individuals, loved by all who knew him. Known for his unwavering kindness, sharp wit, and the welcoming atmosphere he created. Even know you walk around his hometown of St Neots and most know him or knew of him whether it be first hand or through stories told by their relatives.

Although his final years were hard for us all to see the man we knew begin to fade the stories we can all share and the memories we have of my grandad Joe keep him alive with us every day. I know for each step Kristelle, Frank and I take on these walks, I’ll be thinking of my grandad Joe and reminiscing on all the memories I had with him and no doubt be smiling because of who he was and what he meant to us all.
