I'm walking 30 miles in September

I’m walking 30 Miles in September and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.

An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

My Updates

Days 4, 5 and 6

Sunday 7th Sep
Thought I had posted updates already but I had only done them on Facebook. Sorry!!!

Had a lovely walk around the lake on both Thursday ans Friday, being joined by my friend April on Thursday.   The swans came over to say hello on both days which always makes me smile.

Today's walk was a late one on the treadmill as I didn't have time to get outside for a walk. Took me a while to figure out how to sync my watch with strava to record it and wasn't sure if it worked. Thankfully, it looks like I managed it. 😁

Day 3 - Lunch

Wednesday 3rd Sep
Almost didn't do a walk today because of work commitments and rain forecasts but I ended up missing lunch service today and had to walk to the shops for lunch so I turned it into a walk around the block, and thankfully stayed dry.

Day 2 - Swans ans Cygnets

Tuesday 2nd Sep

Day 2 - Saying hi to the swans

Tuesday 2nd Sep
Managed to get out for a walk before the rain starts.

Not walked this route for a while but I was overjoyed to see that the swans have 6 cygnets that have survived and our almost fully grown. You can see that the brown feathers are fading to make way for the white.

This is the first time I have seen this in the 11 years based at this office as often the foxes get them and they don't survive.

Absolutely made my day and made my walk even more worthwhile! ❤️

Day 1

Monday 1st Sep

Day 1

Monday 1st Sep
So after my epic fail of signing up to a challenge I should have known I couldn't do last month, I've signed up to one that l now I can do this month. Walk a mile a day in September for Dementia UK.

More importantly, this is one that my physio fully supported me in doing too.

I've done this challenge before and found it a good one for me personally as it's achievable and it forced me to have a lunch break and get out for some fresh air, something I don't usually do. Unfortunately, I didn't have time for a nice walk outside today but I did have to go to Tesco's to pick up a script so I parked further away and walked up and down all the aisles, despite not needing any shopping, bought a couple of things so that I didn't look suspicious 🤣 then headed back to the car to find I hadn't quite hit a mile yet so back down the car park I went until I had, and so ends day 1.

Will try and do something a little nicer tomorrow if I can fit it in around the rain that's forecast.
