The reason I'm running 100K for Dementia UK
As some of you are aware in 2021 my Mum was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia. This woman has single handedly raised me since I was 11 years old when my Dad passed away. This is a horrible horrible disease where you lose a loved one a little more every day. Some days are so hard mentally and it’s so upsetting to see her this way. In February, I'm running 100K to give something back and raise funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support. These nurses help with the mental burden on the families as well as helping the patients.
Thank you in advance and wish me luck!

The final push
Sunday 22nd Feb So far I have done 70km and in the final week I have 30km to do. I played 90 minutes of football yesterday and now my body is in pieces but I will finish one way or another. I can’t believe how generous everyone has been and the amount raised is mind blowing for me so thank you… that is my motivation 🫶 Share
20km down 80km to go
Friday 6th Feb Done 4 x 5km runs this week and gradually I’m getting quicker. Normally I’d be struggling for motivation but seeing how much I’ve raised so far makes it so much easier as I don’t want to let anyone down. The weather this morning was a challenge but it’s also so refreshing. Only thing that will stop me is an injury. But if I had to roly poly 100km, I’d do it for my mum… now that could be a fun challenge 🙈 Share
The start of 100km
Sunday 1st Feb Today I started my 100k challenge… it was my first run since January 2025 when I started my keep fit regime for that year which lasted 2 days. I started with a 5km run which I done in 28.25… this is a long way off my PB which is 21.40. A mini challenge I’ve set myself is to get my 5km below 25 mins again. At 42 this is easier said than done. I’m going to try and not drink throughout February as well, this is also easier said than done because I’m an extremely sociable guy. Wish my luck and thank you for all of your generous donations 🫶 MPD ShareThank you to my Sponsors
