I'm walking 30 Miles in September for Dementia UK

This September, I'm walking 30 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

Why I am walking 1 mile a day in September.

Sunday 30th Aug
Last October my Mum broke her hip and had an operation. During her recovery in became very clear that she wouldn't be able to go back home safely  with my Dad.
Over the previous few years there had been progressive signs of dementia, from finding it difficult to find certain words, to getting confused in new places and lost in more familiar ones, from not being able to remember how to do basic tasks to having delusions about people being in tbe house who weren't there to not recognising people she once knew. Anxiety and confusion led to irritability and anger at times.
It was decided by family and medical practitioners that Mum would be cared for more safely in a nursing home. That was at the beginning of December 2025 and she is still being cared for  there.
Dementia is a cruel disease as you see the person  drift away and become a shell of their former self. My great grandmother, grandmother,  aunt and now my Mum have all had this disease.  For this reason, I will walk a mile a day to fundraise some money to help towards research and understanding of people with dementia.
Please.donate if you are able.  Thank you so much.
