I'm walking 31 Miles in May for Dementia UK

This May, I'm walking 31 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

My mum Rose

Monday 27th Apr
My mum Rose was 96 when she passed away on 5 September 2024, she had suffered with dementia for 3 years and was in a nursing home for two of those.
In the end she didn't know any of us,  I would like to say that she was happy during her dementia years and, for the most part she was. Born in the East End of London she would sing all the old London songs remembering all the words and keeping staff entertained but dementia is an awful disease  that steals your memory bit by bit and sometimes, more so towards the end, mum would become anxious, angry and scared, the suffering was agonising to watch, the person you love, my mum, disappearing before my very eyes.  As heartbreaking as it was, when mum passed away it was almost a blessing, she was at peace.  I will walk the walk for mum and all the sufferers of this cruel disease. Please, if you can help with a donation, however big or small, it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. x
