Walk 50 Miles in January 2026

I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK

This January, I'm walking 50 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

UPDATE: 8th January 2026 - 28.7 miles achieved so far

Thursday 8th Jan

January is barely a week old, and the challenge is already well underway.

As part of a personal commitment to walk 50 miles in January in support of Dementia UK, I am pleased to share that 28.7 miles have already been completed. That is well over halfway in just eight days.

This challenge is about more than distance. Dementia affects families quietly, relentlessly, and often without enough support. Dementia UK’s Admiral Nurses provide specialist, life changing help to families facing some of the hardest moments imaginable. Their work gives clarity where there is confusion, reassurance where there is fear, and support where people can feel completely alone.

Walking in January is not always easy. Cold mornings, short days, and tired legs are all part of it. But every mile is a reminder of why this matters. Dementia does not pause for winter. Families do not get a break. Support must be there every day.

Reaching nearly 30 miles so early has been hugely motivating. The remaining miles will be completed over the coming weeks, and every step is taken with the knowledge that this effort contributes, in a small but meaningful way, to the vital work Dementia UK does across the country.

If you are able to support the challenge, whether through a donation, sharing the message, or simply taking a moment to learn more about Dementia UK’s work, it genuinely makes a difference.

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged, supported, and followed the journey so far. Onward to the remaining miles.
