I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK
This January, I'm walking 50 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.
Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.
Thank you!

My motivation
Tuesday 6th JanMy motivation is to raise as much as I can so that other family's can get the much needed help I lost both my nan and grandad to dementia we didn't have any help or support apart from what we was giving each other it was the hardest times of mine and my family life I didn't have much involvement with my grandad care at the time they lived in Yorkshire, my mum was going up there and staying weeks on end to help my nan care for my grandad and it broke her having to watch her dad turn in to what she called the dementia man after we lost my grandad my nan came back with my mum and told us all that she was going to stay so my nan moved in with my mum it was lovely for about a year then we was told that my nan was not only being diagnosed with dementia but also delirium and Alzheimer's again we only had each other for support I was there as much as I could to help my mum with my nans cars but it was my youngest sister the toke on most of nans care but towards the end things got to much my mum had had a bad fall my youngest sister had a break down my nan ended up in a home losing my nans was the hardest loss of my life we spent about 8 months being told we think this is it we think we should start end of life care then my nun would pick up we prepare ourselves over and over for that final goodbye that didn't seem to come it was so horrible and then that final goodbye came and it hit like a tune of bricks so if me walking 50miles in a month can help raise money so that other families can get more help at a time that is 100% needed then I will and I will do the walk in honour of my nan and grandad that I love and miss everyday

Mum had this so I know how heartbreaking it is all round. Someone described it as the long goodbye and unfortunately it’s so true.
