I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK

This January, I'm walking 50 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

50 Miles, Two Dogs, and a Cause Close to My Heart

This January I’m taking on the Walk 50 Miles Challenge for Dementia UK, and I won’t be doing it alone. I’ll be joined every step of the way by my two dogs, Bean and Heidi, who are very happy to be my walking companions (and motivation to get outside whatever the weather!).
This cause is incredibly close to my heart. Dementia has affected my own family, and I’ve also seen friends go through the heartbreak of supporting a loved one living with dementia. Watching someone you care about change, and seeing the impact it has on families, is something that stays with you forever.
I also spent 10 years working as a carer for people with dementia, and during that time I saw first-hand the daily struggles, the emotional toll, and the strength it takes from families and carers alike. I’ve seen the confusion, fear, and frustration that dementia can bring, but also the love, patience, and resilience shown by those caring for someone they love. It is truly heartbreaking at times, and no one should have to face it without support.
By taking on this challenge, I want to give something back and help raise money for Dementia UK so they can continue to support families when they need it most. Every mile I walk is for those living with dementia, for their families, and for the carers who walk alongside them every day.
