Walk 50 Miles in January 2026

I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK

This January, I'm walking 50 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

Completing my 50 miles with a walk in to Leeds

Saturday 31st Jan
In an attempt to finish my miles today, I walked from home to Leeds City Centre. An 8 mile walk takes me to 50 miles and some lovely city scenery along the way!  The weather this month has been a challenge, meaning the dark foggy nights I’ve not been able to get out for long/very far so today’s mammoth walk was both a challenge and some much needed sunshine and fresh winter air!  It’s been a privilege to walk for this great cause!

I’ve reached the halfway mark 24.63 miles

Sunday 18th Jan
After a strenuous almost 10 miles today I’ve finally reached a milestone I’m happy with. 24.63 miles. Hoping to keep up the momentum (providing the back holds up) and do the same next weekend.

Small steps make a big difference

Sunday 28th Dec
This January I’m committing to walking 50 miles, come rain or snow in memory of our Granddad Brian, who sadly passed in November this year. Diagnosed with Dementia in July, we saw first hand how quickly the deterioration took a hold. Luckily, his illness was short lived, however I can only imagine how devastating this illness is for people living with and supporting people living with dementia. I couldn’t think of a more fitting way to celebrate him and his life, and help other families in need of support in the process! Any donation no matter how big or small would be appreciated so we can provide support to a much needed charity, Dementia UK. Thank you.
