I'm walking 31 Miles in May for Dementia UK

This May, I'm walking 31 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

Day Eight- A poignant day

Saturday 9th May
Today I reached the halfway point with a 3KM walk around the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas.
I’ll be honest — this past week has been emotionally difficult. This weekend marks the anniversary of the miscarriage my husband and I experienced last year, and we’ve spent some quieter time together reflecting and remembering. Visiting the Sands Garden brought us a great deal of peace and perspective.
Because of that, reaching this halfway milestone today feels even more meaningful.
Not long ago, even attempting something like this would have felt impossible physically and mentally. Since starting this journey I’ve been working hard to improve my health and fitness through daily swimming, walking, and today felt like a reminder that small consistent steps really do add up.
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated, encouraged me, and followed the challenge so far. Your support genuinely keeps me going on the harder days.
Halfway there — and I’m determined to keep going.

Day One Completed it, mate

Friday 1st May
I headed out around Winchester and completed 4.18 km at a steady, comfortable pace. It wasn’t about speed today—it was about showing up, setting the intention, and taking that first step (or few thousand!).
I wasn’t alone either—my husband and youngest son came with me, which made it even more special. Having them there kept me motivated, and the promise of a well-earned lunch at Subway at the end definitely helped!
Plus, Winchester is such a beautiful city to visit, which made the whole walk even more enjoyable.
This is just the start, but every mile counts—for awareness, for support, and for those affected by dementia.
