Hi everyone!!

Tuesday 25th Aug

Hi everyone,

This September I’m walking 30 miles for Dementia UK, and I wanted to explain why I’m doing it.

I’m doing it for two very special people we’ve lost, my Aunty Lin and my Nanny Doris.

Aunty Lin had dementia and I grew up watching her decline. It affected her, but it also affected our whole family and the time we got to have with her. She was diagnosed at just 54 and sadly passed away at 64. She was such a fabulous person and had so much life left to live.

My Nanny Doris was also diagnosed with dementia, but she was already ill before I was born. So I never got the chance to know my Nanny before dementia. I’ve always wished I could have known her as she was before she became ill and experienced more of who she was.

Having two people in my family affected by dementia has made me realise how much it impacts not just the person living with it, but the whole family too.

I know there is a lot more awareness and support for dementia now, but there is still so much more that needs to be done. I’d love to raise as much as I can for Dementia UK to help families who are going through what ours did.

So this September, I’ll be walking 30 miles in memory of Aunty Lin and Nanny Doris, and for all the families currently living with dementia.

If you can donate, thank you. It genuinely means a lot to me. ❤️

Two people we’ve lost, and two people I’ll be walking for.
