I'm cycling 300 miles for Dementia UK

This June, I'm cycling 300 miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. Just £8 can cover the telephone costs for two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

Day 6 update

Friday 6th Jun
First day that the weather has allowed me the opportunity to get outside and off the indoor trainer, and my sensor's didn't record my ride!

I felt fine, but just took things easy. This is just about getting through the miles, not breaking record's.

Went to Lochwinnoch and back, slow and steady 16.9 miles.

Every penny helps, so if you can spare a fiver which cover the call from a desperate relative looking for some help or advice in the middle of the night, when they are at their wit's end. Then please donate..... every little helps!

2nd day update

Monday 2nd Jun
Yesterday  was my first proper day of the challenge. Done on the turbo trainer due to a friend reminding me of my heart issues and the perils of taking off down a cycle track into the countryside with possibly little or no phone signal should something go wrong!
As it turned out I started to have some chest discomfort 2.5- 3km into the cycle! Could have been quite worrying if out alone. 😔
So slowed things down and gingerly continued. Thankfully it passed and I managed to complete my first day.
Things got away from me today both workwise and mentally, so I haven't cycled, but will make up the difference in the next few day's.  I'm looking at options to cover the distance and keep the chest pain/tightness at bay, so maybe breaking it down into sections over the day could work....5 x 2 miles? So long and avg 10 miles per day it could work.
It's as much a mental test as a physical test for me, but due to the kind donations so far, and our closeness to this terrible disease I'm determined to get through it.

Thank you to my Sponsors
