Jog 1 Mile a Day in April

Jog 1 Mile a Day in April

Lea Leeser is jogging one mile a day for Dementia UK

This April, Lea is jogging one mile each day and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

I’ve joined this challenge in memory of my lovely Mum who died last year  she wasn’t diagnosed with dementia but we now know that she was in the early stages and I want to raise awareness so that other families don’t have to go through our pain without support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. Just £8 can cover the telephone costs for two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

My Updates

Week Three - Nearly There

Wednesday 23rd Apr
A couple of days late with my week three blog, I blame bank holidays! My challenge is still on track with 16.08 miles run in the 7 days covering 14 to 20 April inclusive. I expected week three to be tough and it was, my legs really needed to be coaxed back to life each day and I am tired 🥱. Still, as I write this blog there are only 7 more runs to complete the challenge and with your generous support I have exceeded £500 with my fundraising efforts. Thank you all for your continued support 💗

Week 2 Complete

Monday 14th Apr
Well another 7 days completed, in those 7 days I have run 15.67 miles, though days 12 and 13 were tough 😰. As I have talked to people about my experiences with this challenge their understanding and generosity have really spurred me on and I’m now daring to hope that I might reach £500 with my fundraising efforts. Thanks again to you all for your support 🩷 I’ll update again in another 7 days x

Week One Done

Monday 7th Apr
Well that’s the first 7 days done and I have completed 15.61 miles - phew! There have been days when I have felt totally overwhelmed by what I have taken on but thanks to all the support and motivational messages I’ve had from friends and family I remain totally committed to this excellent cause. A big shout out to all the wonderful people who have sponsored me, I am truly grateful this money will fund vital research and provide support for people with dementia and their families. Thank you, you are all stars 🤩 x
