I’m walking 62 Miles in October and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.

An £10 donation can cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Walking 62 Miles in October – For My Dad, For Dementia UK

Many will know I lost my Dad in January this year after his journey with dementia. Watching someone you love go through this illness is incredibly hard, and it changes so much about family life.

October is my Dad’s birthday month, and I wanted to do something meaningful in his memory. That’s why I’ve signed up to walk 62 miles in October for Dementia UK.

Dementia is often described as a “cruel disease” — not just because of what it takes from the person diagnosed, but also because of the impact it has on the people around them. Families live with the daily challenges, the emotional strain, and the heartbreak of seeing someone slowly slip away.

By taking on this challenge, I hope to raise awareness and funds so that other families can receive the support they need. Dementia UK’s Admiral Nurses provide specialist advice and guidance, which can make such a difference during the most difficult times.

62 miles is a big commitment, but every mile will be walked in memory of Dad, and for the many families across the UK who are still on this journey.
