I'm walking 60 Miles in June for Dementia UK

This June, I'm walking 60 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

Day 2 - Wythenshawe Park & Hall

Wednesday 3rd Jun
Day 2 of my walking challenge.  Legs felt stiffer today and heart felt a little racier than yesterday.  Not sure if the sun had an affect but it came out of the clouds as did the heat around half way (3km mark) and remained for the full 12.32km I completed.

I decided to take a walk through Wythenshawe Park today to have a look at the hall area.  It has wide paths which is perfect for walkers and runners alike and there was a lot of them enjoying their own activities today.  Many even said hello.

The walk home from the park is slightly uphill, but I clearly built on some strength gained from yesterday as it felt much easier.

I've not only got several apps, including the Dementia UK one tracking my progress but I've designed a little spreadsheet to collect all the info on how I am doing.

I really hope I succeed in both raising awareness and funds but also my weight loss.  The motivation helps by having both goals.

Thank you everyone for your support.

The Day Before

Tuesday 2nd Jun
So, before I came across the Dementia UK June Walk 60 Miles challenge, I set out to achieve my own goal of walking 12km (just over  7.5 miles) every day to get fit.

Yesterday on the 1st June, I achieved my first goal, to simply get out there and do it.  Come rain or shine, that's the mission!

Proud to say I walked 12.35km in around 2 hours.  I saw some basic scenery in the Manchester area, so if there are locations close to Manchester you think I should visit and complete my walk, do let me know!  A change of scenery always helps!

Many Thanks for all your support.  Here's to day 2 and beyond!
