30 Miles in September for Dementia UK
Running for My Bampa 💙
I’m taking on a charity run to raise money for Alzheimer’s, a cause that is incredibly close to my heart.
I’m running for my Bamps, who has very complex needs and whose journey with Alzheimer’s has had such a huge impact on our whole family.
I’m there every day, doing everything I can to support him, advocate for him and make sure he knows he isn’t alone. It has been an incredibly difficult and emotional journey, but I will continue to be there for him every step of the way. 👣
I also want to say a huge thank you to all of the amazing staff who have cared for my Bampa during his time in hospital. 💕 Their patience, kindness, compassion and dedication have meant so much to both him and our family, especially during such a challenging time.
We are now awaiting a placement in a specialist home that can provide the level of care and support he needs. Finding the right home for him has been incredibly difficult, and we have already faced rejections because of the complexity of his needs. 💔 It is heartbreaking to know that there are limited places able to support someone with such complex needs, but we will continue to fight to make sure he gets the specialist care and environment he deserves.
So I’m putting myself through this run for him. 🏃♀️
