I'm walking 30 Miles in September for Dementia UK

This September, I'm walking 30 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Why am I doing this?

I have two main reasons that drew me in to signing up for this challenge. 

The first and the biggest is my darling grandad 🩵 He sadly left us in November after a 10+ year battle  with Vascular Dementia. For anyone who doesn’t know, my grandad was my world, he helped to raise me, treated me like his own daughter and inspired me to be the best person I could be. Someone once said to me that he was “one of earths greatest gentlemen” and he truly was. Watching him change throughout this awful disease was heart wrenching and I long for a world where no one has to see their loved one fade away in that way. 

Secondly , I’ve been on a journey to being healthier and with that comes increasing my steps and having accountability. I aim to do all my 30miles in September doing steps outdoors (not on my walking  pad) and enjoying what beauty the UK has to see.
