I'm walking 62 Miles in October

I’m walking 62 Miles in October and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.


Hi there,


This October, I’m walking 62 miles for Dementia UK – a cause close to my heart. 



When my lovely Mother in law May Gallagher was diagnosed with Dementia she fought it with courage and never, even when it had taken hold, lost her wonderful sense of humour. 

I saw the impact of Dementia on the family and the unbelievable support they gave May.

My Auntie Rita passed on 29/09/25 with dementia present.

My Grandma Gladys Purcell died many years ago with dementia as one of the causes. 

Also saw the impact on my friends from work Josie and Paul whose Dad and Father in Law respectively fought dementia.


An £10 donation can cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

These walks have given me a chance to think when I’m on my  own, but today had a lovely walk with my  wife Catherine and our friends Carol and Dennis . Chatting in the sunshine and walking is great for mental health.

Sad news today as My Auntie Rita has passed with dementia again being present . I will add Auntie Rita to the people I am doing this walk for. She and my Uncle Roy were massive impact on me growing up and without them I would not have been the man I am now.
