Jog 1 Mile a Day in April

I'm running one mile a day for Dementia UK 🩵🩷

Back in 2018, I trained to be a Dementia Friend as part of a corporate fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society. At the time, I had no idea that ‘dementia’ would become such a significant word in my everyday life.

Fast forward to now, and having sadly seen first-hand the impact dementia can have - not just on those living with it, but also on the families and friends who support them - I’ve decided to take on the Dementia UK challenge to run 1 mile every day in April.

My grandad, Arthur, has always been one of the most important people in my life and being far from home right now, I felt like I needed something to focus on - something that would help raise awareness, make Arthur proud and, hopefully, raise a few donations to support the incredible work that Dementia UK is doing.

I’ll be honest: when I started this challenge, I didn’t think I’d even make it through the first week. I know 1 mile a day might not sound like much (it’s certainly no marathon!), but considering I thought my running days were well behind me - not to mention the dodgy knee, asthma, and very, very slow and questionable pace - it’s been... a journey! (and my sore legs most definitely agree!).

So if you would like to donate even £1, I’d be immensely grateful - and it would make the next mile even more worth it (and help distract me from how much my knee hurts!).
