I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK
This January, I'm walking 50 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.
Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.
Thank you!

Raising Money for Dementia UK: For Grandma Betty and Auntie Ann
Friday 26th DecThere are some diseases that take more than health — they take memories, personalities, and pieces of the people we love. Dementia is one of the cruellest of them all, and it is a journey my family knows far too well.
My dearest Grandma Betty and my beloved Auntie Ann are both living with dementia. Watching two strong, loving women slowly change because of this illness has been heartbreaking. Dementia doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed; it affects everyone around them — families, friends, and carers who grieve small losses every single day.
Why This Matters So Much to Me
Grandma Betty has always been full of warmth, stories, and quiet strength. Auntie Ann brought laughter, kindness, and a spark that lit up every room. Dementia has taken pieces of those women, little by little. Some days are better than others, but the uncertainty is relentless. The confusion, the fear, the moments of recognition followed by moments of loss — it is emotionally exhausting and deeply unfair.
This is why raising money for Dementia UK means so much to me. It’s personal. It’s for Grandma Betty, for Auntie Ann, and for every family walking this painful path.
Why Dementia UK
Dementia UK provides specialist dementia nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, who support families through every stage of the disease. Their work is invaluable — offering guidance, reassurance, and practical help when families feel overwhelmed and alone. They are often the lifeline people desperately need but don’t always know how to find.
By fundraising for Dementia UK, we are helping ensure that families like mine — and countless others — don’t have to face dementia without expert support.
