I'm walking 30 Miles in September for Dementia UK

This September, I'm walking 30 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

30 Miles for Vince❤️

In September, I’ll be taking on a 30-mile challenge to raise money for Dementia UK, for my Dad, Vince, who is living with Lewy body dementia.

I wanted to do something to raise awareness and money for a cause that has become incredibly personal to our family.

My Dad, Vince, has the kindest soul. He has always been such a happy person, someone who loves his family and friends and is happiest just pottering around in his garden. He is the kind of person who would always put other people first and who has brought so much love and happiness to the people around him.

But sadly, his life has been completely turned upside down by Lewy body dementia.

Dad experiences hallucinations and can see and hear people who aren’t actually there. Things that were once so ordinary and simple can now become confusing and frightening. Watching someone you love experience things that you can’t see or understand yourself is incredibly difficult, and it’s heartbreaking to see how much this illness has changed his life.

And it doesn’t just affect Dad. His wife, my mum Sandra, is by his side through it all, and dementia has changed the lives of our whole family. There are challenges, uncertainties and moments that we never imagined we’d have to face.

But amongst all of that, Dad is still Dad. ❤️

That kind, loving, happy man is still there, and that’s who I’m doing these 30 miles for.

Throughout September, I’ll be walking 30 miles to raise as much money as I can for Dementia UK, helping them provide specialist support to people living with dementia and the families who care for them.

Every donation, no matter how small, would mean so much to me and my family. If you can’t donate, simply sharing this fundraiser would also help enormously.

I’m doing this for my Dad, Vince. For Sandra. For our family. And for every family living through the reality of dementia.
