The 36 Hole Challenge

I'm doing The 36 Hole Challenge for Dementia UK

I’m taking on The 36 Hole Challenge and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.

£21 could pay for the telephone costs of five families calling our free Helpline whenever they need support.

£33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

Why I’m Taking on 36 Holes for Dementia UK

Tuesday 11th Aug
On Friday 25 September, I’ll be taking on 36 holes of golf in one day at Denton Golf Club to raise money for Dementia UK.

I play golf regularly and really enjoy it, but completing two full rounds back-to-back will be a genuine challenge. There will undoubtedly be tired legs, some questionable shots and probably a few moments when I wonder why I signed myself up for it! However, the reason behind the challenge will keep me going.

Dementia is a cause that is particularly important to my wife and me. Vascular dementia runs in her family, and her grandmother is currently living with both vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s. We have seen the impact these conditions can have - not only on the person diagnosed, but also on the family and friends around them.

Watching somebody you love experience dementia is incredibly difficult. It can gradually affect their memory, independence and personality, while leaving their family trying to understand how best to help and support them. That is why the work Dementia UK does is so important.

Through its specialist Admiral Nurses, Dementia UK provides practical guidance and emotional support to families facing dementia. Raising money for this cause feels like a meaningful way to contribute and help other families access support during an incredibly challenging time.

My fundraising target is £500, and every donation - whatever the amount - will help me move closer to reaching it. Knowing that people have supported me and this cause will also give me some much-needed motivation when I’m halfway through the second round!

If you are able to donate, I would be extremely grateful. You can support my challenge through the link below:

Thank you to everyone who donates, shares the page or simply offers some encouragement. It genuinely means a lot to my wife, me and our family.

Now it’s time to practise - and hopefully make sure I don’t spend 36 holes searching for golf balls!
