In Memory of my Grandad ❤️
Thursday 21st May
This June, I’m walking 60 miles in memory of my wonderful granddad, who we sadly lost to dementia. Every step I take will be for him – to honour the kind, gentle man he was, and all the happy memories we shared together. Dementia took so much from him, and from all of us who loved him, but this walk is my way of making sure his memory shines bright, and raising awareness for a cause that matters more than anything to our family. I’m walking every mile with him in my heart, and every step is a thank you for all the love, laughter and happy times he gave us.
For anyone who knew him, you’ll know what a truly special man he was. Kind, patient, always ready with a story or a laugh, and someone who loved his family more than anything in the world. Sadly, we lost him to dementia, and watching that cruel disease slowly take so much of who he was was one of the hardest things our family has ever gone through. That’s why this walk means so much to me. Every single mile I walk will be for him. I’ll be thinking of all the happy times we shared: the days out, the silly jokes, the way he always made everyone feel welcome and loved.
I love and miss you so much Grandad ❤️
