Walk 50 Miles in January 2026

I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK

This January, I'm walking 50 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

Walking to raise pennies for Dementia support

Saturday 3rd Jan
Well .. what can I say !  It’s poop ! Watching someone slowly have their ability to speak took away , followed by their memory and memories.
But my mum has this child like cuteness about her that’s adorable.  Plus she gets away with murder too lol.
But watching Dad relentlessly care for her. He had a stroke too ! He wouldn’t change a thing .
So I’m stepping out and trying to do my little bit to support.  A dip in the ocean but every bit counts .
Those who read this and think of Dementia often refer to Alzheimer’s and how horrible that is.
There other types of dementia, vascular for example, our mum has Frontal Lobe dementia. Has now lost the ability of speech, mobility is horrific and she often drops asleep in the middle of dinner or when we try to play a game with her.
Of course she always wins.
We consider ourselves lucky , we still have our mum with dad exactly where they both want to be.
It is a very emotional rollercoaster of hurt, anger, frustration , sadness that comes with Dementia.
If we can change one day for someone to make it brighter , to support those families too.  Then if I could walk to the moon I would   !!
