I'm running 100K for Dementia UK
Dementia isn’t just a word or a statistic in my life. It’s something that has already touched my family, changing someone we love in ways that are heartbreaking and hard to put into words. It’s also something we continue to live with today, as another family member faces the reality of this disease. Watching someone you love slowly lose memories, confidence, and pieces of who they are is devastating — not just for them, but for everyone around them.Dementia doesn’t arrive all at once. It creeps in quietly. At first it’s small things — a forgotten conversation, a repeated question, a moment of confusion. Over time, those moments grow heavier. The person is still there, but parts of them begin to slip away. It’s a long goodbye, and it affects entire families.
That’s why I’ve committed to this challenge.
Running 100k over a month will be tough. There will be early mornings, tired legs, runs I’d rather skip, and moments where quitting feels tempting. But every kilometre I run is nothing compared to what people living with dementia, and those who care for them, face every single day. I get to choose this discomfort, they don’t.
I’m running to raise funds and awareness for dementia research, care, and support services. Funds raised helps to provide vital resources for families, invest in research, and move us closer to better treatments, and one day, a cure!🤞
If dementia has touched your life too, you’ll know how important this is. And if it hasn’t, I hope you’ll help me make a difference for the families who are walking this road right now.
If you’re able to support me, whether through a donation, sharing this page, or simply cheering me on, it would mean more than I can say. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps turn these kilometres into something bigger than a run.
I’ll carry my family, and everyone affected by dementia, with me every step of the way. Thank you for reading. Thank you for supporting. And thank you for helping me run for a cause that truly matters.
