I'm walking 31 Miles in May for Dementia UK

This May, I'm walking 31 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

The dogs are loving their daily walks

Thursday 14th May
Every day so far during May my cocker spaniels Abbi and Fraser and me have been enjoying our mile long walks. The weather has been pretty good so far and I usually do my walk about 11am in the morning with my headphones on listening to an audio book whilst the dogs explore the field. I am doing this for my mum but also discovering that this is great for my mental health.

I'm doing this for my mum

Monday 20th Apr
My mum was recently diagnosed with dementia, it's an awful disease, it's really difficult when you see the changes that this disease does to someone you have known all your life. My mum is still my mum but she isn't the same anymore. She has lost her spark, she always loved to socialise but now she can barely manage an hour before she wants to go home.
She doesn't leave the house much anymore and chooses to play solitaire or read a book, I'm pretty sure she is reading the same books because she struggles to remember what she has read.
It's hard knowing that you will have to have the same conversation with mum over and over again because she forgets what's been said.
Her long term memory is good her short term memory is broken.

I chose to do this challenge because I want to raise funds to help my mum and others that are suffering the same as her.
