I'm walking 31 Miles in May for Dementia UK
This May, I'm walking 31 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.
Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.
Thank you!

Care Home
Monday 13th Apr After mum being in the hospital for a little over 2 months I have been able to find her a suitable care home which she moved into Friday. I've been busy getting her things in her room and going to and from sorting her old home out. In some ways it feels good to know she's got all round care somewhere she can settle, but it also feels strange leaving her somewhere different. I hope she settles and is happy there. Giving her some space this week for her to adjust and get into a routine by herself. Jx Share
2 miles ✔️
Monday 6th Apr I've started the walk already. Partly because I don't just want to hit the goal of 31 miles, I want to exceed it. I lead a very busy life like most people, I work, I have my own business that I make products for by hand and then sell these at local markets. I have a home and family to look after. I also live 40 miles away from mum. I am also currently organising moving mum into a care home and dismantling her lovely flat she has. It's quite heartbreaking having to do that. A part of mum's dementia is paranoia. She didn't want to throw any receipts away as she thought people looked through her rubbish. She also horded magazines and had a chest full of them. Clothes she hadn't worn for years that didn't fit. Anyway I'm nearing the end of all that and will be helping mum to settle into new surroundings. I'm dreading it to be honest. I just hope she settles and feels at home there fast. Please cross everything for her. JX Share
A tough day
Saturday 4th Apr Today has been a really tough day. A call from the hospital to say, "your mum's trying to leave the hospital again and getting very upset", is code for she's kicking off again and we need help.
