Winter Reading Challenge

I'm doing Winter Reading Challenge for Dementia UK

This winter, I'm reading and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

Book 2 finished ✅️

Thursday 22nd Oct
Sorrow & Strangers by Alexis Rune.
4 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
753 pages in just over 2 days.

Well! I enjoyed this one much more than the first. WHYYYYYY did i think it was a completed duology and it left off on a total cliff hanger 🤨 It was darker, and definitely more to delve into with better pacing.

Sadly now I have to wait until next year for the final installment. Anyone else hates to read uncompleted series... Just me? Okay, cool.

Until book 3, keep believing and reading 📚

Book 1 finished ✅️

Blood & Betrayals by Alexis Rune.

I enjoyed the story. A little slow on the action for my liking, but i still found myself sobbing uncontrollably at 1am this morning reading the ending.
I will be stating book 2 today Sorrows & Strangers. Hopeful to get this duology finished by Wednesday/Thursday!

Hi! Im Jess.

Tuesday 13th Oct

Hello people on the world wide web, Im Jess. I am a mother to five smaller humans living in Pontypool, South Wales. I'm a lover of books who believes there's something magical about getting lost in a story. Reading allows us to escape into different worlds, experience the impossible, and dream of places where anything can happen. Although I don't read every day, I read for the joy of it, and this challenge is an opportunity to push myself while turning something I love into something meaningful.

Dementia is deeply personal to me. Watching people you love face this terrifying disease is heartbreaking. It slowly changes the person you know, affecting their memories, their personality, and the little things that make them who they are. It's a cruel reminder of how precious our minds, our memories, and our connections with one another truly are.

Through this reading challenge, I want to do more than turn pages. I want to help raise awareness and support those affected by a disease that touches so many lives.

Books allow us to imagine different worlds, and I want to believe in a world without dementia — one where memories aren't stolen and families don't have to watch their loved ones change in ways they never imagined.

Maybe a world without dementia feels impossible right now, but if this small challenge can help even one person or one family affected by it, then every page will have been worth it.

I'm challenging myself not just to read more, but to make every book count for something bigger than myself. ❤️

My goal is to read 25 books by the end of winter. Lets turn some pages!
