Walk 30 Miles in September 2026

I'm walking 30 Miles in September for Dementia UK

This September, I'm walking 30 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

Anticipatory grief

Friday 14th Aug

Anticipatory grief is one of the hardest parts of loving someone with a terminal illness because the grief doesn't wait until they're gone. It lives alongside the laughter, the milestones, the ordinary days, and the deep joy of having them here.

It's like a continuous mourning process. You mourn....they decline....you mourn again....repeat.

It is incredibly cruel despite their resiliency.

Why I’m Doing a Sponsored Walk for Dementia

Every Step Matters: Why I’m Doing a Sponsored Walk for Dementia

There are causes that touch us all in one way or another, and for me, dementia is one of them. That’s why I’ve decided to take on a sponsored walk to raise money and awareness for people living with dementia and the families who support them every day.

Dementia is more than memory loss. It can affect thinking, communication, confidence, and independence, and it places a huge emotional and practical strain on loved ones, who often become carers.

By taking part in this walk, I’m hoping to make a small but meaningful difference. Every mile represents support for those affected, and every donation—no matter the size—helps fund vital research, provide practical support, and improve quality of life.

Training for the walk has been a powerful reminder that small steps can lead to real change. Some days feel easier than others, but the experience has given me time to reflect on the strength and resilience of people living with dementia and those who care for them.

If you’re able to support my fundraising, I would be incredibly grateful. Your generosity can help bring hope for the future and much-needed support for families today. If you can’t donate, sharing this post or encouraging others to get involved would still make a real difference.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far. Your encouragement means so much, and I’ll be thinking of everyone affected by dementia with every step I take.

Together, we can help create a future where no one has to face dementia alone.
